Trevor Traina

Trevor Traina was unanimously confirmed by the US Senate as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Austria in March of 2018. He served in Vienna for three years.

He is also an entrepreneur and private investor and founded or co-founded five successful technology companies. Four of them were in the online ecommerce space and one in enterprise software.

He was Founder and CEO of IfOnly which was a marketplace for experiences and was sold to MasterCard in 2019. Previously, he was Co-Founder and Chairman of DriverSide, a venture-funded startup in the
online automotive category. DriverSide was sold to Advance Auto Parts (AAP) in August of 2011. He was Chairman and Founder of SchemaLogic, inc (Sold to SmartLogic in 2011) and Chairman of
StepUp Commerce (Sold to Intuit in 2006.) Trevor was also President and Founder of CompareNet, Inc., the original online product comparison guide. (Sold to Microsoft in 1999.) He spent two years at
Microsoft after the acquisition while CompareNet became the shopping channel of MSN. Trevor began his career in marketing as the youngest Brand Manager ever at Seagram's in New York.

Trevor serves or has served on the boards of several private companies and non-profits. For more than a decade he was on the board of a top-five business school- the Haas School of Business at the
University of California Berkeley. He served as a board member of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco as well as the Princeton University Art Museum, the Gladstone Institute for medical research, and San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral. He was a Vice President of Venetian Heritage which works to restore monuments in Italy and Croatia. Trevor was the Board Chair for Cathedral School for Boys.

Trevor was honored as one of Town & Country’s “50 Top Philanthropists” in America. Additionally, Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) recognized Trevor as one of the “100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2013”

He was awarded the Medal for Exceptional Public Service by the Secretary of Defense and the Grand Decoration of Honor in Gold from the Chancellor of Austria.

Trevor holds a bachelor's degree in politics from Princeton University, a graduate degree in international relations and social studies from Oxford University and a master's in business administration from Berkeley's Haas School of Business.

He is a collector of photography and contemporary art. He is also a winemaker and owns a vineyard in the Napa Valley.
