Ambassador Barrett to deliver the inaugural Women Who Inspire lecture at SAIS
On December 17, Ambassador Barbara Barrett will deliver the inaugural Women Who Inspire lecture at the launch of the John Hopkins SAIS Women’s Leadership Initiative.
Ambassador Barrett is Chairman of The Aerospace Corporation, and serves on the governing boards of RAND, Caltech, the Smithsonian, the Lasker Foundation and Horatio Alger Association.
Previously, she was U.S. Ambassador to Finland, Interim President of Thunderbird School of Global Management, Senior Advisor to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, a Fellow teaching Leadership at Harvard, CEO of the American Management Association, Deputy Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration and Vice Chairman of the U.S. Civil Aeronautics Board. She was a partner in a large Phoenix law firm and, before she was thirty, she was an executive of two global Fortune 500 companies.
In other roles, Ambassador Barrett was President of the International Women’s Forum and, as a member of the U.S.-Afghan Women’s Council, she founded a program to train and mentor Afghan women entrepreneurs that has been emulated worldwide.
