The Department of State invites Council members to participate in its new Virtual Fellows Program (VFP). The recently launched program enables experienced business leaders, academics and other professionals to serve as virtual consultants to the State Department.
Carissa Gonzalez, who most recently served as Deputy Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Montevideo, and Megan Tetrick, Political Officer for Internal Affairs and Human Rights in the Office of Russian Affairs, were selected as the 2014-2015 Davis Public Diplomacy Fellows.
Students who have been selected for a Washington, DC-based State Department internship for the summer of 2014 are invited to apply for the Annenberg Fellowship. To be eligible for the fellowship, students must have completed their junior year of undergraduate study by May 2014 and be enrolled as a senior undergraduate in the Fall 2014 semester.
Ambassador Stuart E. Eizenstat (Ambassador to the European Union, 1993-1996) will participate in a panel discussion with Robert Edsel, the author of The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History. The book was recently made into a movie starring George Clooney.
We are saddened to announce the passing of Council member Shirley Temple Black. Ambassador Black served as the Ambassador to Czechoslovakia (1989-1992), Chief of Protocol (1976-1977) and Ambassador to Ghana (1974-1976).
