Event: Ambassadors Roundtables

Ambassadors Roundtable with the Ambassador of Greece

Greece, the cradle of democracy and a steadfast NATO ally, has been beset by an economic crisis and swamped by migrants and asylum seekers. While the flow of refugees entering Greece has abated, more than 50,000 migrants remain who cannot travel further into Europe or return home. More than a third of the Greek population is living in poverty. How has this strategically located country of eleven million coped with these daunting challenges, and what is its outlook for recovery?

For insights into these issues of bilateral concern, join us at noon on December 6 for a Holiday Season Ambassadors Roundtable at the Metropolitan Club with the Ambassador of Greece, His Excellency Haris Lalacos.

Ambassador Lalacos, a magna cum laude graduate of Amherst College, earned his Masters in International Relations at Johns Hopkins’ School of Advanced International Studies. A career diplomat, his previous postings have included Turkey, Egypt, Washington, and Macedonia, all of which are of pivotal significance to Greece.

We hope that you can take advantage of this opportunity that has been facilitated by our fellow CAA member Ambassador Tom Korologos, and we look forward to having you with us on December 6.
