Event: Ambassadors Roundtables

Eastern Europe and the Fight for Freedom - Ambassadors Roundtable with the Honorable Andrew Bremberg

When considering Eastern Europe's previous battles against the Soviets, Ambassador Bremberg assessed "We can see striking parallels to what is transpiring in Ukraine today."

In light of current world events and Ambassador Bremberg recently returning from Eastern Europe, the Council welcomed him for this virtual Roundtable. During his trip, he met with the Prime Minister in Romania and senior government officials in Poland and Hungary to discuss those countries’ respective histories battling communism in an effort to build a relationship with them and to tell their stories more effectively here in the United States.

Ambassador Bremberg is currently the President and CEO of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. Previously, he served as the U.S. Permanent Representative to the European Office of the United Nations from 2019 to January 2021. Prior to his tenure as Ambassador, he served as Assistant to the President and as Director of the Domestic Policy Council for the Executive Office of the President. He also has worked in the Office of the Senate Majority Leader as a Policy Advisor and for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
