Spring 2015 Conference

The theme of the Council's Spring Conference, which was held on May 11 and 12 in Washington, DC, was "Middle East Mayhem: ISIS - A Deadly Reality."
 
The event opened on Monday, May 11 with a kick-off Luncheon at The Sulgrave Club, 1801 Massachusetts Avenue, NW. The Ambassador of Lebanon, His Excellency Antoine Chedid, was the honored guest speaker. The Council's Board of Directors Meeting followed in the Choate Room at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, 1779 Massachusetts Avenue, NW.

On Tuesday, May 12, the Conference convened in the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace's Choate Room. Ambassador Robert Ford, former U.S. Ambassador to Syria and Algeria, Ambassador Ford Fraker, former U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Colonel Derek Harvey, USA (Ret.), Director of the Global Initiative for Civil Society and Conflict at the University of South Florida and former senior analytical specialist for Iraq to General Petraeus, Dr. Kimberly Kagan, President of the Institute for the Study of War, Dr. Frederick Kagan, Christopher DeMuth Chair and Director of the Critical Threats Project at the American Enterprise Institute, and Ambassador John Campbell, former U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria and expert on the ISIS-inspired Boko Haram, were among the presenters.

The two-day program culminated with a luncheon at the Cosmos Club, 2121 Massachusetts Avenue, NW. General John Allen, USMC (Ret.), Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL, was the keynote luncheon speaker.
