Spring 2016 Conference

The Council of American Ambassadors held its Spring Conference in Washington, DC on May 16-17. The Conference, which focused on the European refugee/migrant crisis, was particularly timely, as Spring's warm weather ushered in another crushing wave of migrants and refugees to Europe.

On Monday, May 16, the Conference opened with an Ambassadors Roundtable luncheon with the Ambassador of the European Union to the United States, H.E. David O'Sullivan. The Council's Board of Directors Meeting followed.

On Tuesday, May 17, the Conference convened in a private club in Washington, DC. Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Anne C. Richard, DHS Assistant Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis Francis X. Taylor, President of the Migration Policy Institute - Europe Dr. Demetrios Papademetriou, and Professor of International Migration at Georgetown University Dr. Susan Martin, and CNN Chief National Security Correspondent Jim Sciutto were conference presenters.

The Conference concluded with a luncheon. Sweden's Ambassador to the United States Bjorn Lyrvall was the keynote speaker.
