The Council will host a dinner on Tuesday, June 12 at DACOR Bacon House to welcome our Ambassadors Walter and Leonore Annenberg and CAA Fellows, Class of 2012.
Ambassadors Roundtable
The next Ambassadors Roundtable luncheon will be held on Tuesday, June 26 at noon in the Anderson Room (second floor) of The Metropolitan Club (1700 H Street, NW).
The Ambassadors Roundtable is a members-only program. Advance registration is required. Please contact the Council office to reserve your place.
Save the Dates for the Council's Fall 2012 Conference in Los Angeles, California
The Council's fall 2012 conference will be held from Sunday, October 7 to Tuesday, October 9 in Los Angeles, California.
The Council's Board of Directors will meet on Sunday, October 7.
A visit to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is planned for Monday, October 8. The visit will include a private VIP tour of the library and a luncheon.
A reception will be held the evening of Monday, October 8 at a member's residence in the Los Angeles area.
The Council's fall conference focusing on the Asia/Pacific region and the United States will be held on Tuesday, October 9 from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at UCLA. A luncheon will follow the conference.

TIMOTHY A. CHORBA ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL OF AMERICAN AMBASSADORS |
Ambassador Timothy A. Chorba has been elected President of the Council of American Ambassadors (CAA).
Ambassador Chorba served as the Ambassador to Singapore from 1994 to 1998.
Prior to his appointment Ambassador Chorba was a partner in the Patton Boggs law firm in Washington, DC, which he had joined in 1977, and he rejoined the firm upon his return to the United States. Ambassador Chorba is engaged in international corporate legal practice, including government relations, public policy issues, commercial transactions, trade issues, anti-counterfeiting, regulatory matters, litigation and financing. His clients are American and European multinational enterprises doing business in North America, Western Europe, South America and Asia.
From 1974 to 1977, he was a corporate attorney with Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett in New York. In 1973, he participated in a Congressional Staff exchange program with the German Bundestag in Bonn, sponsored by the Conference group on German Politics. He was Legislative Counsel to Congressman Jonathan Bingham of New York from 1972 to 1973. He was admitted to the bar in 1973 after obtaining his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1972.
Ambassador Chorba graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1968 from Georgetown University with a B.A. degree in Government. In 1968-1969, he was a Fulbright Scholar in International Law and International Relations at the University of Heidelberg in Germany. He served as an Armor officer and Judge Advocate General officer in the US Army Reserve from 1968 to 1986, attaining the rank of Major.
He was born September 23, 1946, in Yonkers, New York and raised in New York City. Ambassador Chorba is married to the former Ruth Wimer, a partner with the McDermott, Will and Emery law firm. They have three sons: Timothy, Jr. (25) a graduate of Georgetown University''s College of Arts and Sciences, is a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco; Christian (24), a graduate of Georgetown''s School of Foreign Service, is teaching high school English and American Studies in Karcag, Hungary; and William (20) is a Georgetown sophomore.
Ambassador Chorba is fluent in German and conversant in French.

CHARLES E. COBB, JR. APPOINTED TO THE CAA ENDOWMENT FUND COMMITTEE |
Ambassador Charles E. Cobb, Jr. has been appointed to the CAA Endowment Fund Committee. Ambassador Cobb is the Senior Managing Director and CEO Of Cobb Partners, Ltd., an investment company. He served as the U.S. Ambassador to Iceland under President George H.W. Bush and was Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce under President Reagan. Ambassador Cobb is the past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Miami. He is also a former Trustee of several Stanford University endowment funds and alumni organizations and a trustee or board member of his church and many other charitable and professional organizations.

DAVIS PUBLIC DIPLOMACY FELLOWSHIP |
The Council is pleased to announce that Glen Davis and Addie Schroeder have been selected as the Council''s 2012-2013 Davis Public Diplomacy Fellows.
Glen Davis currently serves as the Desk Officer for Public Diplomacy in Afghanistan, the primary liaison between Washington and post for the largest public diplomacy effort in the State Department. He has also worked as Deputy PAO in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where, as press officer and cultural attache, he created a number of programs to foster reconciliation among Sri Lankans in the aftermath of the long insurgency that ended in 2009. Before that, he was vice consul in London. Mr. Davis has received two individual Meritorious Honor Awards from the State Department and several group awards.
Before joining the Foreign Service in 2006, Mr. Davis enjoyed one career as a student, teacher, and scholar of literature and philosophy and a shorter one as a telecommunications consultant. Born and raised in Massachusetts, he speaks Italian, French, German, and Sinhala and reads Latin and Greek. He holds an honors degree in History and Literature from Harvard University and Master''s degrees from St. John''s College in Annapolis and the University of California at Irvine. He has the unusual distinction of having met his wife at a monastery.
Addie Schroeder has been in the Foreign Service for eight years and currently works as a Line Officer in the Executive Secretariat. In that position, she advances Secretary Clinton''s domestic and international travel and works as mobile office support for the Secretary. Her previous Foreign Service tours include Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer in Baghdad, Assistant General Services Officer in Moscow, and Consular and Economic Officer in Athens. She holds an MBA with a concentration in International Business and a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Kansas. Prior to joining the Foreign Service she worked for UPS. She speaks Arabic, Russian, and Greek, and her hobbies include running and scuba diving.
The Davis Public Diplomacy Fellowship program combines on-the-job training with academic study and mentoring by former U.S. ambassadors, public diplomacy officers and communications executives. Its purpose is to enhance the conduct and practice of U.S. public diplomacy through the provision of specialized training and mentoring opportunities for mid-career officers.
